ESCALATE FOR GAZA—As Israeli Occupation Forces brutally bomb and begin a ground invasion in Rafah — where 1.2 million Palestinians are sheltering — we call on all tech workers to mobilize & escalate, wherever you are, in support of Gaza.
The IOF’s use of technology and AI is playing a pivotal role in this moment, supercharging the zionist state’s killing machine as tech imperialists like Google & Amazon continue to shamelessly power this violence via their $1B cloud contract with Israel’s genocidal state & military.
CALL FOR TECH WORKERS: MOBILIZE & ESCALATE FROM WHEREVER YOU ARE NOW
Mobilize in your community NOW: Follow @palestinianyouthmovement @uscpr @nationalsjp to find an emergency action near you this week, take to the streets, attend protests, and support student encampments with material needs, especially when there is a call for bodies when cops are called and state violence is imminent.
Definitely do *not* recommend taking material, concrete action from your position of power as a tech worker, programmer, or software engineer with potential access to certain technology.
AT STANFORD TODAY—Join us & the courageous students at the Stanford student encampment @sit_in_to_stop_genocide to discuss our collective struggle towards divestment from Israel and towards liberation for Palestine! Hear from members of the Nimbus Nine, the workers arrested at the @google sit-ins last month, and other workers with the No Tech for Apartheid campaign on our fight against Google and the tech industry’s complicity in the genocide in Gaza.
WE WILL NOT STOP WE WILL NOT REST
ACTION ALERT—In an aggressive & desperate act of retaliation, Google fired 50 workers, including non-participating bystanders, as a response to April 16th’s historic, coast-to-coast sit-ins that took place inside Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian’s office in Sunnyvale and at Google NYC. Through this worker action — the first of its kind in tech — Google workers w the #NoTechForApartheid campaign demanded that their employer cut its $1.2B Project Nimbus contract with Israel.

Google’s indiscriminate mass firings are a clear attempt to quash dissent, silence its workers, and reassert its power over them. Google is terrified of worker organizing for Palestine and embarrassed by last week’s show of worker power. In an attempt to assert control, Google unceremoniously, and without due process, upended the livelihoods of over 50 workers, including many who did not actively participate in April 16th’s sit-ins. Google even called the police on its own workers at both sit-in locations, leading to the arrests of the Nimbus Nine, who were charged with trespassing at their own offices.
Unjustly fired Google workers include Palestinians who financially support families back home, workers with urgent healthcare needs, as well as those who relied on work visas to reside and work in the U.S. Irrespective of these extenuating circumstances, Google lashed out at any worker that was physically in the vicinity of the protest or who they identified through a dragnet of in-office surveillance.
These courageous workers put their bodies & jobs on the line inside their own workplaces, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to Palestinian liberation. Workers’ sit-in demands included that the company stop allowing the harassment and discrimination of Palestinians, Muslim and Arab Googlers, and address the workplace health and safety crisis that Project Nimbus has created.
NO amount of retaliation will stop workers from organizing until Nimbus is dropped and Google stops powering the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza
BREAKING—Statement from the No Tech For Apartheid campaign on @theintercept’s bombshell investigation confirming that Project Nimbus requires Israeli weapons manufacturers to run on Amazon and Google cloud services:
“This afternoon’s bombshell reporting confirms that despite Google’s continued insistence that Project Nimbus is ‘not directed at highly sensitive, classified, or military workloads relevant to weapons or intelligence services,’ both Google and Amazon are directly colluding with the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF).
Project Nimbus, Google and Amazon’s $1.2B cloud contract with Israel, requires Israeli weapons manufacturers including Israel Aerospace Industries and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems to run on Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud—effectively creating a one-stop shop for genocide on the cloud.
RADS manufactures the “Spike” missile, which analysts suspect Israel has weaponized against Palestinians, leaving “cube-shaped tungsten shrapnel wounds,” since as early as 2009. It has been deployed as recently as last month, during Israel’s drone-facilitated killing of seven World Central Kitchen humanitarian workers.
What’s more, Israel’s settlement division, a ‘quasi-governmental body tasked with expanding Israel’s illegal colonies in the West Bank,’ is a mandatory Nimbus customer.
This news clearly reveals even more clearly why Google fired 50 of its own workers last week. They are terrified of workers organizing for Palestine, around the terms and conditions of their labor, and around workplace conditions relating to Nimbus. They are terrified of worker power, because it threatens the corporation’s burgeoning war profiteering business model.
Google and Amazon executives are genocide profiteers with blood on their hands.
Nothing — no amount of mass retaliation or firings — will stop Google and Amazon workers from organizing against Project Nimbus until it is dropped.”

BREAKING — @theintercept JUST confirmed that both Google and Amazon is directly colluding with the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF). Project Nimbus — Google and Amazon’s $1.2B cloud contract with Israel — requires Israeli weapons manufacturers, like Israel Aerospace Industries and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, to run on Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud—effectively creating a one-stop shop for genocide on the cloud.
What’s more, Israel’s settlement division, a ‘quasi-governmental body tasked with expanding Israel’s illegal colonies in the West Bank,’ is also confirmed to be a MANDATORY Nimbus customer.
With this reporting, our understanding of the relationship between Google and Amazon and the Israeli military and apartheid apparatus has crystallized. What we see is profit-greedy corporations looking to turn a buck by any means necessary, including by directly working with a genocidal state.
This reporting comes on the heels of @google firing 50 of its workers in response to April 16th's historic, coast-to-coast #NoTechForApartheid sit-ins at Google offices to protest Project Nimbus and the harassment and censorship of Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim Googlers. Last month @TIME confirmed that Google lied to its own workers, consumers & the press for years and has ACTIVELY DEEPENED its partnership with Israeli military during the genocide in Gaza, signing a new $1M agreement as recently as March 2024.
Full statement incoming.

Google has engaged in a shameful act of mass retaliation against its workers in order to send a message: Any worker who dissents against the company’s complicity in genocide will be silenced and punished. All while Google continues to lie to the press and the public about the military nature of Project Nimbus, their $1B cloud computing contract with Israel. @TIME recently confirmed that Google lied to its own workers, consumers & the press for years, is providing direct cloud/AI services to the IOF, and has ACTIVELY DEEPENED its partnership with Israeli military during the genocide in Gaza, signing a new $1M agreement as recently as last month.
Workers will NOT allow business as usual while Google continues to profit from the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza.
“We call on all Google, Amazon, and tech workers to join the No Tech For Apartheid campaign and build power with us to demand our bosses divest from Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza now. As code becomes tantamount to weaponry, this call could not be more urgent.”

WE WILL NOT STOP WE WILL NOT REST
BREAKING—Statement from Google workers with the No Tech for Apartheid campaign pon Google’s firing of 20 additional workers last night, bringing total number of workers fired to 50
This evening, in an aggressive and desperate act of retaliation, Google fired over 20 additional workers — including non-participating bystanders during last week’s protests.
These indiscriminate mass firings come after Google already fired 30 workers for their supposed involvement in last week’s historic, coast-to-coast sit-in at Google offices protesting the company’s $1.2 billion contract with the Israeli government and military, dubbed ‘Project Nimbus.’ This group also included workers who did not, contrary to Google’s claims, cause any disruption inside the building.
That brings the total to over 50 workers that Google has indiscriminately retaliated against — including many who did not actively participate in last Tuesday’s protest.
Google is throwing a tantrum because the company’s executives are embarrassed about the strength workers showed at last Tuesday’s historic sit-ins, as well as their botched response to them. Now, the corporation is lashing out at any worker that was physically in the vicinity of the protest — including those who were not at all involved in the campaign.
For Google executives, we have a simple message, that we will continue to reiterate, as long as we need to: We will not stop fighting, and we will not back down. We will not stop demanding protection for our Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim colleagues. We will continue organizing until our demands are met: Drop Project Nimbus and stop powering Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza now.
We are not afraid.

WHY I WAS WILLING TO BE ARRESTED - Worker-organizer Ray Westrick shares about yesterday’s historic, coast-to-coast 10-hour sit-in at the company’s headquarters in Sunnyvale and NYC where workers protested Project Nimbus, the company’s $1.2 billion contract with Is***l. In response to workers’ demands during the ongoing genocide by Is***l, @google called the cops on its own employees and ordered the arrest of the Nimbus Nine.

NEW— @middleeasteye @wired @nbcnews @forbes @cnn + more coverage of @Google’s retaliatory mass firings of over two dozen workers, including those who did not directly participate in yesterday’s historic, bicoastal 10-hour sit-in protests. This flagrant act of retaliation is a clear indication that Google values its $1.2 billion contract with the genocidal Israeli government and military more than its own workers.
Google claims that the protest involved people who “largely” do not work at the company. This is not just untrue, it’s insulting. Thousands of our colleagues have joined our call for the company to drop Project Nimbus, supporting the dozens of brave workers who have spoken out publicly about how the contract is impacting their health and safety on the job. Most of all, it is insulting to those of us you just threw out of the company for voicing our concerns about Project Nimbus, as well as for the well-being of our Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim colleagues facing Google-enabled racism, discrimination, harassment, and censorship.
The truth is clear: Google is terrified of us. They are terrified of workers coming together and calling for accountability and transparency from our bosses. They are choosing to reveal the falsity of Google’s “open culture” in order to get rid of a threat. The corporation is trying to downplay and discredit our power.
These mass, illegal firings will not stop us. On the contrary, they only serve as further fuel for the growth of this movement.
Make no mistake, we will continue organizing until the company drops Project Nimbus and stops powering this genocide.
