BREAKING—@Google just fired over two dozen workers, including those among us who did not directly participate in yesterday’s historic, bicoastal 10-hour sit-in protests. This flagrant act of retaliation is a clear indication that Google values its $1.2 billion contract with the genocidal Israeli government and military more than its own workers.
Our bosses called the police on its own workers, the Nimbus Nine, who were arrested and taken into custody last night. Today, they punished all of the workers they could associate with this action in wholesale firings, through a dragnet of in-office surveillance. Google cited “harassment” as the reasons for workers’ firing. If there has been any bullying or harassment at the company, our Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim colleagues have been the recipients.
Google continues to lie to its workers, the media, & the public. Google continues to claim, as of today, that Project Nimbus is “not directed at highly sensitive, classified, or military workloads relevant to weapons or intelligence services.” Yet, reporting from TIME Mag proves otherwise: Google has doubled down on contracting with the Israeli Occupation Forces since the start of its genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. By continuing its lies, Google is blatantly disrespecting and disregarding consumers, the media, as well as workers.

STATEMENT FROM #NOTECHFORAPARTHEID CAMPAIGN ON GOOGLE’S NEW DEAL WITH ISRAEL’S MINISTRY OF “DEFENSE” SIGNED IN MARCH WHILE ISRAEL MASSACRED PALESTINIANS IN GAZA:
Google is a war profiteer, and is directly aiding and abetting Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Despite escalating worker action opposing the contract, Google continued to lie to its own workers, consumers, and the press for years: in numerous public statements, the company claimed that Project Nimbus, the company’s $1 billion contract with the Israeli government, was not being rendered for services related to the Israeli military.
This morning’s reporting from TIME Magazine brings new clarity to the extent of Google’s complicity: The company has renewed its contracts with the Israeli military forces since the start of the genocide, at a discounted rate, and signed a new agreement with the Israeli military as recently as three weeks ago. Google is purposefully colluding with the IOF in its massacre of Palestinians, deepening its relationship with a state carrying out a genocide that has been livestreamed 24/7 for over six months. Google cannot feign ignorance: it is an active arm of the Israeli genocidal war machine.
For years, Amazon and Google workers have been fighting for their companies to drop the Project Nimbus contract. Rather than addressing their concerns, Google has rejected and minimized worker concerns about the impact of the project. Google instead has engendered a health and safety crisis by facilitating harassment and retaliating against workers who speak out against Project Nimbus, and has condoned further harassment, discrimination, and retaliation against Arab, Muslim, and Palestinian Googlers.
Google must heed our call now: Drop Project Nimbus, and end all business with the Israeli military and government. No less is acceptable. We will not stop organizing and fighting until the company stops profiting from genocide.
We encourage all people of conscience committed to Palestinian liberation to attend worker-led No Tech For Genocide actions in New York City, Sunnyvale, and Seattle this coming April 16 to demand Google stop powering this genocide.
