NEW—CBS report on our rally and picket where fired and current @Google workers were joined by Bay Area labor organizers, tech workers, student organizers, and community members outside Google SF to demand the company stop powering Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. We stand in solidarity with workers and students in Palestine, and we stand in solidarity with workers and students who have faced repression and retaliation in our collective struggle for divestment from Israel and liberation for Palestine! In April, Google workers escalated by holding coast-to-coast sit-ins, one in Sunnyvale at the office of the Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian to Protest Nimbus, Google and Amazon's $1.2B contract with the Zionist state and IOF. 9 workers were arrested and over 50 were fired. Workers refuse to be silenced by Google's mass retaliation, and we will continue to fight for our retaliated coworkers and demand together that Google stop powering the AI-facilitated genocide in Gaza. NEW—Tech workers with the #NoTechForApartheid Campaign stand in unequivocal support of @eu_ips, students, & workers at the @edinburghuniversity currently demanding the University divest fully from Alphabet (@Google’s parent company) and @Amazon for providing technology and material support to Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. The administration is repressing the voices of their students and workers by obscuring their clear and ethical demands, instead proposing further “discussion” without material action. The administration’s delay and minimization tactics clearly aim to absolve the University of responsibility for the direct violence its investments are currently financially and tangibly enabling. If the University refuses to divest, it is implicitly supporting the repression of workers speaking out for Palestinian liberation, instead siding with military contractors like Google and Amazon that do not and will not respect the rights and voices of future workers. The University has an obligation to use its investments responsibly to help build a world where its students will not have to face a choice between economic precarity and building violent technology at the behest of tech company bosses driven by insatiable greed. With over 100,000 Palestinians in Gaza murdered, injured, or missing under the rubble of Israel’s bombs, this demand could not be more urgent. DISCLOSE, DIVEST WE WILL NOT STOP WE WILL NOT REST Follow and support @eu_jps in their fight for divestment!

Hear from an ex-Googler on their experience being retaliated against and fired by Google for protesting the company’s complicity at the historic coast to coast Googler sit-ins to demand an end to Project Nimbus last April. Meet organizers with No Tech For Apartheid in the DMV and learn how tech workers can use their power to end these contracts that power the occupation. Space is limited, so please arrive promptly at 6:30! There will be an online component for folks not in the DMV—link to RSVP is on our bio!

ACTION ALERT— Rally & Picket: Divestment from tech to the university! 📣 Wed. June 12, 5pm @Google’s SF office, 1 Market Street Next Wednesday, @Google workers will be rallying alongside students and workers across the bay @union.nurses.for.palestine @studentsforgaza_sfsu @stanfordsjp @bayarealabor4palestine @sfsugups & more to keep heeding the call from Palestinian trade unions to stop arming Israel and powering the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. In April, Google workers staged historic coast-to-coast sit-ins, one at Google NYC and one in Sunnyvale inside Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian’s office to protest Project Nimbus — Google and Amazon’s $1.2B contract with the Zionist state and IOF. 9 Google workers were arrested and 50 were fired. Google workers refuse to be silenced by the company’s mass retaliation, and they will be rallying at Google’s 1 Market St. office in SF to support our retaliated coworkers and demand that Google stop powering the AI-facilitated genocide in Gaza. Google’s indiscriminate retaliation of its 50 workers is not unique — countless workers - nurses, doctors, teachers, professors, student workers, warehouse workers, and beyond - have faced repression when standing up for Palestine, and we stand in solidarity with them. Tech workers call for divestment and an end to Project Nimbus is intrinsically connected to students’ call for divestment. As tech workers, our organizing is inspired by the student intifada and labor organizing for Palestine. Our fights are connected: student-talent pipeline is extremely important to big tech, and together we’ll show them that students, like tech workers, will not allow their labor to be used by these corporations to aid the genocidal state of Israel for its oppression and decimation of Palestinians. This rally aims to strengthen our joint fight — and to continue the call for divestment from Israel: from universities to the tech industry. We won’t stop organizing until Palestine is free, from the river to the sea. Pls wear a mask for public health and to protect from state & tech surveillance. #NoTechForApartheid #DiscloseDivest illustration and design by @erinpossibly

NEW from our partners at @visualizing_palestine —“When we consider the impact of such [artificial intelligence] systems on human rights, we need to look at the consequences, first, if they malfunction and second, if they work as intended. In both situations, reducing human beings to statistical data points has grave and irreversible consequences for people’s dignity, safety, and lives.”-Artificial Genocidal Intelligence: how Israel is automating human rights abuses and war crimes, by @othermarwa and Daniel Lefeur. NEW—@washingtonpost reported on the NLRB complaint filed by 50 fired @Google workers in response to Google's indiscriminate retaliation against workers who took part in April’s historic coast-to-coast sit-ins demanding the tech giant stop powering the g3n0cid3 of Palestinians in Gaza and cut its $1B cloud contract w Israel. Google’s mass retaliation last month was an example of g3n0c1d3-profiteering executives sending a clear message: Any worker who dissents against the company’s complicity in g3n0c1d3 or the harassment of their Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim coworkers will be silenced and punished. All while Google continues to lie to the press and the public about the military nature of Project Nimbus. @TIME recently confirmed that Google lied to its own workers, consumers & the press for years, is providing direct cloud/AI services to the IOF, and ACTIVELY DEEPENED its partnership with Israeli military during the genocide, signing a new $1M agreement as recently as March 2024. But workers — both fired and current — will NOT allow business as usual while Google continues to profit from the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza and will continue to organize until the contract is dropped.
